Visa-free for Indians through 2026, five hours from Mumbai, and the easiest country in Asia for a vegetarian. Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang and Genting — hand-picked hotels, rates quoted live, booked on WhatsApp.
Things we’d tell a friend before they booked. Specific, opinionated, occasionally inconvenient.
i.
KL is a stopover city; Langkawi is the holiday.
Two nights in Kuala Lumpur covers the Petronas Towers, Batu Caves and the malls. The beach trip is Langkawi — and the resort choice there is binary: Datai Bay (rainforest, luxury, quiet) or Pantai Cenang (lively, restaurants on foot, mid-range).
Honeymoon: Datai Bay. Family: Cenang or the Westin near town.
ii.
The visa-free window runs to the end of 2026 — travel in it.
Indians enter without a visa for 30 days under an exemption that has been extended to 31 December 2026. You still need the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, filed online within three days of arrival, and a return ticket. Extensions beyond 2026 are likely but not announced.
We send the MDAC link with your booking.
iii.
Nobody goes hungry here — but Jain still needs a note.
Malaysia has a huge Tamil population; Brickfields (Little India) is a five-minute walk from KL Sentral and pure-veg food is everywhere. The big hotels do Indian breakfasts as standard. Jain and no-onion-garlic still need to be in the booking.
Saravana Bhavan Brickfields for the first dinner — reliable, open late.

Chapter Two
Where to stay in Malaysia
The area decides the holiday. Pick one, then we pick the hotel.
No — Indian passport holders enter visa-free for up to 30 days, an exemption extended to 31 December 2026. You must file the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online within three days before arrival and carry a return ticket.
Langkawi or Penang?
Langkawi for a beach holiday and honeymoons; Penang for heritage, street food and a short city-and-beach stop. With five nights or more you can do both — they are 20 minutes apart by air or three hours by ferry.
Is Malaysia a good fit with Singapore?
The best combination in the region: fly into Singapore, train or fly to KL, finish on Langkawi, fly home from KL. We book the whole chain on one invoice.
Is it vegetarian-friendly?
One of the easiest countries in the world for Indian vegetarians — large Tamil and Punjabi communities, Little India in every city, and hotels used to pure-veg breakfasts. Jain requests need to be in the booking.
