Everyone goes Udaipur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer — rightly so. But Hampi (Karnataka), Mysuru, Khajuraho (MP), and Orchha have equally exceptional heritage properties with a fraction of the tourist crush. Better photos, calmer experience.

Most heritage properties in Rajasthan and central India don’t have proper modern cooling. Summers (April–June) are punishing — 45°C+ days. Monsoon adds humidity. Book Oct–March or accept the heat.
