Hotels near Electronic City — Bengaluru's southern campus belt

Electronic City is 18 km south of the centre on Hosur Road, and the Silk Board junction sits between it and everything else. Since August 2025 the Yellow Line metro runs straight through it — which changes the hotel decision.

What’s in Electronic City

Electronic City is the oldest of Bengaluru’s tech zones and still one of the largest: the Infosys headquarters campus, Wipro, Biocon, TCS and hundreds of smaller companies across Phase 1, Phase 2 and the newer Phase 3, strung along Hosur Road south of the Silk Board junction. Trips here are campus visits, vendor meetings, training batches and long project stays.

The important thing: Silk Board. The junction where Hosur Road meets the Outer Ring Road is the city’s best-known bottleneck, and every hotel in central Bengaluru is on the wrong side of it. The elevated Hosur Road expressway helps; the Yellow Line metro helps more.

Three ways to choose

Inside the campus belt. The Oterra for a full-service stay, Lemon Tree for the per-diem — both minutes from the Phase 1 gates, no junction to cross.

Southern end. Holiday Inn Express Bommasandra for the Biocon side and the industrial estates, next to the metro terminus.

Koramangala or HSR with the metro. Stay where the restaurants are and ride the Yellow Line in from Silk Board or Jayadeva. Works for trips of two or three days; for a long project stay the campus belt is simpler.

Common questions

Inside Electronic City if your days are office-bound — The Oterra or Lemon Tree put you minutes from the Phase 1 gates. If you want restaurants in the evening, stay towards Koramangala or HSR Layout and take the Yellow Line in.

Yes — the Yellow Line opened in August 2025, running from RV Road through Jayadeva, Silk Board and Hosa Road to Electronic City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Biocon Hebbagodi and Bommasandra. Trains were running about every 25 minutes at opening, so check the frequency on the day.

About 50 km, right across the city — 75 minutes on a good day and two hours at peak. For a one-day visit it is often better to stay at the airport the night before and drive down early.

Whichever your office is in. Silk Board junction sits between the two, and crossing it at peak hours is the slowest part of any Bengaluru trip. If your meetings are split, consider two shorter stays rather than one long commute.
