Start with two questions

1. How far will the team drive? Under two hours means you can leave after lunch and still have an evening session. Three hours or more needs two nights to be worth it.

2. How many rooms, and what meeting space? On twin sharing you need about half your headcount in rooms. Then check the meeting room for your layout — a theatre setup holds far more people than a boardroom or cabaret setup.

Where to take the team by drive time

Drive times are typical without heavy traffic. Room counts are the hotel’s total rooms.

Lonavala & Khopoli — about 1.5 hours

Best for: one-night offsites, day outings, groups of 20–150. The default Pune offsite: close enough to leave after lunch, with several resorts large enough for a full team. Weekends and monsoon months are busy — book early.

Pawna & Shillim — about 1.5 hours

Best for: leadership retreats of 10–40. Secluded, high-end estate retreat for small senior groups who want privacy over activities.

Lavasa — about 1.5–2 hours

Best for: quiet strategy sessions, groups of 20–80. Lakeside hill town with fewer distractions than Lonavala — suits working offsites more than party offsites.

Mahabaleshwar & Panchgani — about 3 hours

Best for: two-night offsites, groups of 20–100. Far enough to feel like a real break; plan two nights so the drive doesn't eat the programme. Cooler weather most of the year.

In Pune — no travel day

Best for: large conferences, annual meets, 100+ people. When the group is big or time is short, a city hotel with conference space avoids transport for everyone.

FAQ

Common questions

For one night, Lonavala–Khopoli: about 1.5 hours away with several resorts large enough for a full team. For a quieter working offsite, Lavasa. For two nights and a real change of scene, Mahabaleshwar–Panchgani, about 3 hours away.

On twin sharing, about 30–35 rooms, plus a few singles for senior staff or anyone who can't share. Check that the resort can hold that many rooms on your date — weekends near Pune fill quickly.

As early as possible — October at the latest. December and January are peak offsite months, and resorts with enough rooms for large groups are the first to fill.
