Long weekends 2027 — and where to go from Mumbai and Pune
Based on the Central Government holiday list for 2027 (DoPT, 16 July 2026). The best-value breaks: mid-April, where one day of leave gives you five days off, and March and May, where three days of leave give you nine.

Stretch them into longer breaks
- Holi to Good Friday (20–28 March, 9 days): take 22, 24 and 25 March off.
- Id-ul-Zuha to Buddha Purnima (15–23 May, 9 days): take 18, 19 and 21 May off — before the monsoon.
- Christmas to New Year (24 December – 2 January, 10 days): take 27–30 December off.
Holidays that fall on weekends in 2027
Independence Day and Milad-un-Nabi (Sunday 15 August), Gandhi Jayanti (Saturday 2 October), Dussehra (Saturday 9 October), Guru Nanak’s Birthday (Sunday 14 November) and Christmas (Saturday 25 December) all land on weekends, so they don’t add days off.

Using the Central Government list, Good Friday (26–28 March) and Diwali (29–31 October) give three-day weekends without leave. Republic Day, Holi, Ram Navami–Mahavir Jayanti, Id-ul-Zuha and Buddha Purnima become long weekends with one day of leave. Several major holidays — Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra and Christmas — fall on weekends in 2027.
Mid-April: Ram Navami (Thursday 15 April) and Mahavir Jayanti (Monday 19 April) sit either side of a weekend, so taking Friday 16 April off gives five days in a row for one day of leave.
These are Central Government holidays for Delhi offices. States and private companies publish their own lists, and dates for Id-ul-Fitr, Id-ul-Zuha, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi depend on moon sighting. Check your employer's 2027 list before booking.
Six to eight weeks ahead for most long weekends near Mumbai and Pune, and earlier for Diwali and Christmas–New Year, when the most popular resorts fill first.
