The Leela Mumbai — the garden hotel beside the airport
Eleven acres of lawns and a lagoon-style pool, a kilometre and a half from the international terminal. The hotel for the traveller who wants a calm, Indian-luxury stay without giving up the airport's convenience.
The Leela Mumbai is the flagship of the Indian luxury group, set on 11 acres of landscaped gardens in Sahar — a rare amount of open space for Mumbai, and a five-minute drive from the international terminal. Jamavar, its signature Indian restaurant, and Le Cirque Signature give it a dining reputation that the newer airport hotels don't have.
It suits senior executives and visiting leadership who want a hotel that feels like an occasion rather than a transit stop; families and guests arriving for a family occasion from abroad who want to recover from a flight somewhere green; and companies hosting a conference, who get a pillar-free Grand Ballroom and a run of smaller ballrooms on one site next to the airport.
What it isn't: the cheapest or the most efficient airport stay. If you land at midnight and leave at 7 AM, the JW Marriott's skywalk or the Hilton's proximity will serve you better. The Leela is for when the hotel is part of the trip, not just a bed near the runway.
Sahar sits between the international terminal and Andheri East's office belt, which makes The Leela a workable base for both. The airport is minutes away in any traffic; Andheri's MIDC and SEEPZ offices are a short drive; BKC is reachable but at the mercy of the Western Express Highway.
Distances that matter
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (T2): About 1.5 km — 5 to 10 minutes
- Domestic terminal (T1): About 7 km — 15 to 25 minutes
- Andheri station: About 5 to 10 minutes
- MIDC / SEEPZ offices, Andheri East: About 15 to 25 minutes
- Bandra Kurla Complex: About 25 to 45 minutes, traffic depending
- Nariman Point / South Mumbai: 60 to 90 minutes, traffic depending
Getting there
The entrance is off Sahar Airport Road, on the international-terminal side. From T2 it is a short taxi ride; ask the driver for Sahar, not Andheri, to avoid the detour. We can arrange a hotel car at the arrivals gate with the booking, which is worth it for a late-night international arrival.
Rates vary by season, day of week, and availability. WhatsApp us your dates for a firm quote within the hour. All rates GST-extra and include ITC-compliant invoicing.

What’s often negotiable when we book

- Royal Club floor access for longer stays
- A ballroom or meeting room quoted together with a room block
The specific things we do for this hotel
- International arrivals handled. Most guests here land on an overnight flight. We tell the hotel your arrival time and request the room from the night before when it matters, so you walk in and sleep rather than wait in the lobby for a 2 PM check-in.
- Events and rooms on one quote. The Leela's ballrooms are a big reason companies book it. For a conference or an event with a room block we quote the guest rooms and the venue together, so you negotiate one booking with one person, not two departments.
- GST invoicing done right. We take your company's legal name and GSTIN at booking so the invoice is issued correctly first time. At this rate level the stay falls in the 18% GST slab, which a GST-registered company can claim back.
- One person through the stay. A late flight, a room category to change, a guest added to the block — you message one person who already knows the booking, instead of starting over with a call centre.
About 1 km
JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar
The only hotel with an enclosed skywalk to T2 — the better choice for a short transit stay or a very early departure.
About 1 km
Hilton Mumbai International Airport
Smaller full-service 5-star by the terminal; quieter and simpler when you don't need the Leela's scale.
About 1.5 km from the international terminal (T2) — a five-to-ten-minute drive, and the hotel describes itself as five minutes from the airport. The domestic terminal is about 7 km away, so allow 15 to 25 minutes for a domestic departure.
Yes — that's one of its strengths. The pillar-free Grand Ballroom is 11,742 sq ft, and there are five smaller ballrooms and six meeting rooms on the same floor, so an event can run plenary and breakout sessions on one site. We quote rooms and venue together.
Usually within about 5% for the same room type on the same date — sometimes a little higher, sometimes lower. What you get with us: a proper GST invoice, early check-in handled for an overnight arrival, and one person accountable for your stay.
Check-in is 2 PM and check-out is 12 noon. For an overnight international arrival, tell us your landing time and we'll ask the hotel to hold the room from the previous night; if there's a charge we'll tell you before you confirm.
For a stay where the hotel matters — a senior visitor, a family, an event — The Leela, for the gardens, the restaurants and the ballrooms. For a transit stop with an early flight, the JW Marriott, because you can walk to T2 under cover. Send us the dates and we'll compare both for you.
