JW Marriott Pune opened in 2010 on Senapati Bapat Road and is the city's largest hotel and its biggest venue: 414 rooms and suites, a 13,067 sq ft pillar-free Grand Ballroom for 1,360 theatre-style, and a dozen breakout rooms. When a Pune event is too big for the Westin or the Hyatt, it comes here.
It suits organisers of conferences, dealer meets and large receptions of 500 to 1,300 who need the plenary, the breakouts and the rooms in one building; executives with meetings in Shivajinagar, Deccan, the University area, Baner or Aundh — the west-central business districts; and senior visitors for whom the JW Marriott name and the rooftop are part of the welcome.
What it isn't: an east-side hotel. Kharadi, Magarpatta and the airport are 30 to 50 minutes across the city at peak; Hinjewadi is 30 to 45 minutes the other way. For an office-bound week in either IT corridor, stay in it; the JW Marriott is for the centre and for the event.
Senapati Bapat Road runs through Pune's west-central business district, between Shivajinagar and the University, with Baner and Aundh beyond. It's the right side of the city for the older corporate offices and the colleges, and the midpoint for a trip that covers both Hinjewadi and the centre; the airport is the far side.

Getting there
The hotel is on Senapati Bapat Road near the Shivajinagar end, opposite the ICC towers. From the airport, drivers come through Yerawada and Shivajinagar; from the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, the Baner road brings you in from the west in under half an hour off-peak. About 13 km — 30 minutes off-peak and up to 50 at rush hour, through Yerawada and Shivajinagar. The airport is on the east side; the hotel is west-central.
Closer than the east-side hotels — 30 to 45 minutes via Baner — but not close. For an office-bound week in the Infotech Park, stay in Hinjewadi; for a trip split between Hinjewadi and the centre, the JW Marriott is the sensible midpoint.
