Taj Palace opened in 1982 on the edge of the Diplomatic Enclave and became the capital's conference hotel: 411 rooms and suites, the pillar-free Durbar Hall that takes 1,000, the Shah Jehan for 700, and lawns for the receptions that follow. It is where industry bodies, ministries and large companies hold the Delhi events that need every delegate under one roof.
It suits organisers of conferences, summits and AGMs of 300 to 1,000, who need the plenary, the breakouts and the rooms in one building; executives with meetings at the embassies, the ministries or the Chanakyapuri corporate offices, all within ten to fifteen minutes; and visiting delegations for whom the hotel's protocol experience matters.
What it isn't: a Gurugram or Noida hotel, or the cheapest central Delhi stay. Cyber City is 30 to 50 minutes, Noida well over an hour; for a working week in either, stay there. For a plain central Delhi business stay without the convention scale, Taj Mahal on Mansingh Road or the Sheraton are the quieter choices.
The Diplomatic Enclave is the quiet, green south-west of central Delhi, with the embassies, the ministries at Shastri Bhawan and the Chanakyapuri corporate offices close by, and the airport ten kilometres down Sardar Patel Marg — one of the better airport runs for a central hotel.

Getting there
The hotel is at 2 Sardar Patel Marg in the Diplomatic Enclave, on the road that runs from the airport towards the centre. From the airport, drivers come up NH-48 and Sardar Patel Marg; the Dhaula Kuan junction is the only slow point. We can arrange a hotel car at arrivals with the booking.
